Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa
Last Week
Last week was busy! We had a Fire Drill Monday morning during our Library time. It was good for the students to see how it works from a place other than our classroom. It was a bit chilly, but all did well.
On Thursday, your child came home with a nutrition chart to use and reuse at home. We had a fun and interesting lesson given by Taylor's mom, Mrs. Schueneman about the goal of "Eating the Rainbow." We learned that fruits and vegetables of diffferent colors give us different nutrients for our bodies. We also learned that our taste buds change every 10 days-2 weeks so we should continue to try foods often. It will be fun discussing who has been checking off the color foods eaten at school tomorrow.
Your amazing children earned another 10 Class Paws Tickets to earn popsicles on Wednesday. You may think, as I did, that popsicles on a winter day would not be your choice. ❄ We brainstorm ideas for class celebrations and popsicles won by a landslide. We already have our 1st ticket as we work towards our next celebration. I will keep you posted as to what is chosen. 😊
Feel free to send in your child's February homework calendar for a trip to the treasure chest. Remember to mark days of reading on the back to receive a Book It certificate for a free Pizza Hut personal pan pizza. March is the last month for Book It rewards.
Never hesitate to email me (ldelapa@sjschools.org) with any questions you may have regarding any of our “kindergarten stuff.”
Snack and Leaders
Your child will come home with the Leader bag the night before his/her leader day. There is a notebook inside with directions for sharing both a snack with the class and a Show and Tell item. Please refer to the calendar in the back of your child's take home folder for leader and other important dates.

Due to an allergy, please refrain from sending snacks that contain any kind of nut. Thank you!
We will snack in the morning each day (our lunch time is 12:25). It is not necessary for you to send a snack with your child, as the leader provides it each day. Thank you for sending a leak-proof water bottle with your child each day.

Our Positivity Project trait is -Social Intelligence-I think about how others might feel.
Our biggest news is that we are getting a new student! Her name is Ember and she will join our class tomorrow morning! The class is SO excited to meet her and help her get to know our class and Brown School. We have many budding ambassadors in our room ready to be of service to Ember.
Please make note that we now have 24 students when planning for snacks.
All progress reports were sent home Friday afternoon. Please return the signed envelope to school tomorrow.
There might be a sweet incentive for each child returning the envelopes 😉.
We just opened our last box of Kleenex. If you able, we could use a few boxes to get us through the end of the year. We are out of napkins as well. Thank you!!
