Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa Announcements We were all happy to use or iPads last week for something other than NWEA! The class was introduced to Wixie, which is a writing and creativity app. It was fun to watch the students explore, find and share some interesting and fun tools it has for making their own creations. The October Leader calendars were placed in the back pocket of your child's take home folder on Thursday. Please refer to them for upcoming events and leader assignments. It has been a blessing having Mrs. LaFond teaching in our room. She is working on her Master's degree in Elementary Education for grades 3-6 currently. As part of her coursework, she must spend time observing and teaching in those grades this semester. As much as she has enjoyed our kiddos, she needs to have experiences with older students.       Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa Announcements I am happy to report that we are getting a new student tomorrow! Her name is Simran Kaur and she is excited to join our class. I know all of our students will be anxious to welcome her and make her feel comfortable. This gives us a total of 24 students. 😊 Mrs. LaFond did a wonderful job teaching our class last week. I am so grateful to her and to Mrs. A. Lear for helping Mrs. LaFond along the way. I am excited to say that I will be back tomorrow! I really can't wait to see all my kiddos. Mrs. LaFond and I will team teach for a bit. This week, I will teach M, W and TH and she will teach Tuesday and Friday. I think it will work very well. My hope is to take the Math portion of the NWEA tomorrow. It will feel good to have our beginning of the year assessments finished. Never hesitate to email me ( l delapa@s jschools.org) with any questions you may have regarding any of our “kindergarte...

As you know my husband was admitted into the U of C hospital last Tuesday. What we thought would be a couple of days has become more. Unfortunately, we are still here. Our doctors are working to stabilize him so he can go home. Once home he will need support until he is in better shape. Thankfully, Mrs. LaFond is able to teach for me all week. I'm so grateful that she is available. The children enjoyed her last week, so this will provide continuity for them. We have completed the ELA portion NWEA fall testing. Our kiddos did a nice job of staying focused and following directions. This is strictly a baseline and also a first for these students. We will take the Math piece this week or next. The results will come home with progress reports at the end of the Trimester. It has been fun getting the...
