Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa
Announcements
We were all happy to use or iPads last week for something other than NWEA! The class was introduced to Wixie, which is a writing and creativity app. It was fun to watch the students explore, find and share some interesting and fun tools it has for making their own creations.
The October Leader calendars were placed in the back pocket of your child's take home folder on Thursday. Please refer to them for upcoming events and leader assignments.
It has been a blessing having Mrs. LaFond teaching in our room. She is working on her Master's degree in Elementary Education for grades 3-6 currently. As part of her coursework, she must spend time observing and teaching in those grades this semester. As much as she has enjoyed our kiddos, she needs to have experiences with older students. We will miss her, but I am so happy to announce that Mrs. Gideon will be teaching in my absence now. God's timing is perfect as she just finished a long term sub assignment in 1st grade on Friday! In addition to that, she was Mrs. A. Lear's (our other Kinder teacher) sub during her maternity leave last year. She is well loved at Brown School by staff and students!
Thank you for your patience, kindness, understanding and prayers during this time with my husband. I appreciate this more than I can express.
Never hesitate to email me (ldelapa@sjschools.org) with any questions you may have regarding any of our “kindergarten stuff.”
Snack and Leaders
Your child will come home with the Leader bag the night before his/her leader day. There is a notebook inside with directions for sharing both a snack with the class and a Show and Tell item. Please refer to the calendar in the back of your child's take home folder for leader and other important dates.

Upcoming Events
October 10 and 11 will be 1/2 days of school for students. Between this time and mid November all Parent/Teacher conferences
will take place. In Kindergarten we typically wait until November for our first conference. I will have a schedule sent out closer
to that time.
Our first field trip to Bumbleberry Acres will be Monday, October, 14th. I have sent an email to those volunteering for this trip.
Please join me in hoping for a beautiful fall day for our trip. More on this in next week's blog.
Picture retakes are October 22.
Our Fall Festival will be on Thursday, October 31st. The children may wear costumes that day for the party. Please
keep all of our Kindergartners in mind when choosing the costume for your child. There should be no costumes worn that
might scare the children or masks worn. Let’s keep our wholesome environment in mind and be sure all are comfortable and
able to enjoy the day. If you have any questions about your choice, please ask.
