Kindergarten Connection

Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa

Last Week

Thank you all for making the effort to spend time together listening to, encouraging and loving on your children during our conferences. The expectation is that we hold conferences with 100% of our families. I appreciate that you all made that easy for me this year. I really enjoyed our time together.

Our turkeys decorating the hallway look wonderful. Each one is unique and the entire Brown School family loves seeing each new one hung. If your child has not done one yet, there is still time. I'm happy to send home another turkey too if needed.

Never hesitate to email me (ldelapa@sjschools.org) with any questions you may have regarding any of our “kindergarten stuff.”

Due to an allergy, please refrain from sending snacks that contain any kind of nut. Thank you!

We will snack in the morning each day (our lunch time is 12:25). It is not necessary for you to send a snack with your child, as the leader provides it each day.  Thank you for sending a leak-proof water bottle with your child each day.

This from Mr. Hernandez---

Dear Families:

As shared at Back to School Night, we are piloting new ELA instructional materials in grades K-5. This resource offers a rigorous, knowledge building approach for our learners, engaging students in reading, writing, listening and speaking. While our commitment to addressing essential ELA standards has not changed, the order and manner in which standards are assessed in this pilot may be different than in past years. As such, you may not see a reported measure for every ELA standard on your child’s report card. Please also refer to the comments provided by your child’s teacher, as well as ongoing communication and conferencing, regarding your child’s progress in ELA. Thank you for your continued support and partnership.

Thank you for returning Library books by Tuesday of each week.

Just a reminder that the students must wear gym shoes each Friday.

Please, please label your child's outdoor clothing, lunch boxes, water bottles, etc.

Upcoming Events

Monday, 11/25--Brown School Thanksgiving Lunch for the students. I'm sorry for the mixed messages sent about this luncheon. Due to space, we are only able to accommodate the adults that are volunteering to serve at the lunch. The kinders are singing a few songs and we promise to video it for you all.

Thanksgiving Break--11/27-11/29
