Kindergarten Connection

Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa

Last Week

It was a good, quick week in kindergarten. The students have been introduced to and used several of the apps available on our iPads. These iPads are brand new this year and are working well. Ask your child what he/she has done on the iPads lately.

We had our 2nd Fire Drill last week. Our first one was during our Music time, so this was the first time we were able to go to our designated spot on the track. All did well and understand that this is a serious time and we must be on the group plan to keep us all safe. I was very proud of our kiddos 👏.

Now that the weather is more like fall, please be sure your child has adequate outdoor clothing each day. We go outside

3 times a day and we want all the children to be comfortable. Thank you.

Never hesitate to email me (ldelapa@sjschools.org) with any questions you may have regarding any of our “kindergarten stuff.”

Due to an allergy, please refrain from sending snacks that contain any kind of nut. Thank you!

We will snack in the morning each day (our lunch time is 12:25). It is not necessary for you to send a snack with your child, as the leader provides it each day.  Thank you for sending a leak-proof water bottle with your child each day.

Next Week Events

We are excited about our first field trip to Bumbleberry Acres tomorrow morning!! Please be sure your child is dressed warmly as we will be outside the entire time. I just looked at the weather in S. Haven tomorrow morning. So far it appears to be dry BUT.... it will remain in the 40's the whole time we are there!! Boots will be a good choice based upon all the rain we have had this weekend. Please send a pair of shoes to change into with your child, so we don't get our new carpet all muddy.

Pictures will be posted so be sure you are following the Brown School Facebook page to see the fun. This is a closed fb page for our school only. Once you ask to follow, Mrs. Johnson, our library aide will quickly confirm that you are a Brown parent, and your access will be granted.

On Tuesday morning we will have "Donuts With a Special Grown Up" beginning at 7:45 am on our playground. This is compliments of our wonderful PTO.

Tuesday, 10/15-PTO Meeting in the Media Center at 7:00 pm. All are welcome and encouraged to attend. 😊

Wednesday, 10/16, is a Late Start. We will begin school exactly 1 hour later than usual at 9:25. The buses will pick up 1 hour later than usual as well.

Our first Guest Reader will be Mrs. Morales on Wednesday, 10/16 at 3:20. Please bring 3-4 books of your choice to share with the class. We can't wait!

Thank you for returning Library books by Tuesday of each week.

Just a reminder that the students must wear gym shoes each Friday.

Please, please label your child's outdoor clothing, lunch boxes, water bottles, etc.

Upcoming Events

Picture retakes are October 22.

Our Fall Festival will be on Thursday, October 31st. Our committee is working on making it a time to remember. The children may wear costumes to school the day of the party. Be sure to keep in mind your child's ability to use the restroom throughout the day in his/her chosen costume. Please keep all of our Kindergartners in mind when choosing the costume for your child. There should be no costumes worn that might scare the children. Let’s keep our wholesome environment in mind and be sure all are comfortable and able to enjoy the day. If you have any question about your choice, please ask. The kindergarten classes will not be participating in the Halloween parade. We have found that some of the costumes can be scary and we can look forward to more time for our party ☺.

This from our High School Student Senate. Please help to spread the word so we can celebrate these very important people in our community.
