Kindergarten Connection

Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa

Last Week

It felt so good to be back with your children last week. I'm blessed to have a job that I love and brings me so much joy each day.

Our 50th Day celebration was loads of fun. I hope your child showed off each of the activities from the day. It is hard to believe that we will finish our first trimester next week. Each year seems to move more quickly than the last.

I was able to conference with about 1/2 of our families last week and look forward to meeting with the rest of you this week. Thank you for prioritizing this time together. Just a reminder that the children come to the conference too. It is nice to hear both teacher and student perspectives.

Never hesitate to email me (ldelapa@sjschools.org) with any questions you may have regarding any of our “kindergarten stuff.”

Due to an allergy, please refrain from sending snacks that contain any kind of nut. Thank you!

We will snack in the morning each day (our lunch time is 12:25). It is not necessary for you to send a snack with your child, as the leader provides it each day.  Thank you for sending a leak-proof water bottle with your child each day.

Our next Guest Reader will be Mrs. Spencer on Wednesday, 11/13 at 3:20. Please bring 3-4 books of your choice to share with the class. We can't wait!

We will have a 1/2 day on Friday, 11/15, for the end of our 1st Trimester. Progress Reports are scheduled to go home on Friday, 11/22. Once received, if you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to me for clarification.

This from Mr. Hernandez---

Dear Families:

As shared at Back to School Night, we are piloting new ELA instructional materials in grades K-5. This resource offers a rigorous, knowledge building approach for our learners, engaging students in reading, writing, listening and speaking. While our commitment to addressing essential ELA standards has not changed, the order and manner in which standards are assessed in this pilot may be different than in past years. As such, you may not see a reported measure for every ELA standard on your child’s report card. Please also refer to the comments provided by your child’s teacher, as well as ongoing communication and conferencing, regarding your child’s progress in ELA. Thank you for your continued support and partnership.

Thank you for returning Library books by Tuesday of each week.

Just a reminder that the students must wear gym shoes each Friday.

Please, please label your child's outdoor clothing, lunch boxes, water bottles, etc.
