Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa
Last Week
Please sign and return the envelope your child's progress report was sent home in on Friday. We reuse them all year. Each kiddo that returns it will get a treat. Thank you in advance for getting them back to me.
I sent home a list of the High Frequency words for Cycles 1-10 of our EL Skills lessons. Please practice these often with your child. I think you will be surprised at how many he/she knows 👏.
It has been so fun seeing our classmates disguised turkeys and time lines. Things like these help us to get to know each other more and more. I appreciate the time taken with your child doing these projects. They are so proud to share.
I will not send a blog next week so this will cover the next 2 as far as leader/snack and guest reader are concerned.
Never hesitate to email me (ldelapa@sjschools.org) with any questions you may have regarding any of our “kindergarten stuff.”
Snack and Leaders
Your child will come home with the Leader bag the night before his/her leader day. There is a notebook inside with directions for sharing both a snack with the class and a Show and Tell item. Please refer to the calendar in the back of your child's take home folder for leader and other important dates.

Due to an allergy, please refrain from sending snacks that contain any kind of nut. Thank you!
We will snack in the morning each day (our lunch time is 12:25). It is not necessary for you to send a snack with your child, as the leader provides it each day. Thank you for sending a leak-proof water bottle with your child each day.

Next Week Events
Monday, 11/25--Brown School Thanksgiving Lunch for the students. I'm sorry for the mixed messages sent about this luncheon. Due to space, we are only able to accommodate the adults that are volunteering to serve at the lunch. The kinders are singing a few songs and we promise to video it for you all.
Please look for our class, "How to Cook a Turkey" book in your child's folder tomorrow. It is a treasure! It is fun to take with you to your Thanksgiving gathering to share. Each year, they bring such joy!
November homework and Book-It calendars are welcome back for a trip to the treasure chest and Pizza Hut certificate. Reminder that your child's name must be on it as well as your signature.
December homework and Book-It calendars will come home this week. Be on the lookout.
Have a blessed Thanksgiving Break with family and friends. I am certainly thankful for all my students and all of you!
Thank you for returning Library books by Tuesday of each week.
Just a reminder that the students must wear gym shoes each Friday.
Please, please label your child's outdoor clothing, lunch boxes, water bottles, etc.
Upcoming Events
Ms. Johnson is our next guest reader on Wednesday, December 4th at 3:15. Please bring 3-4 books with you to read.
On Tuesday, December 17th we will make Gingerbread houses in our room. The first week of December I will send a
note regarding this asking for donations to decorate our houses. If you are able, please send your assigned item anytime
before that day, but not later than Dec. 16th (so I can supplement if necessary). We will begin at 1:00 (set up) until 2:00 ish
that afternoon. I will need 6 volunteers on that day. Let me know if you would like to join us.
Our Holiday Party will be on Friday, 12/20. It will be in the afternoon, but still unsure of the exact time. I'm waiting
for the Brown schedule to be solidified. I will reach out next week to the committee for this party. Thank you in advance!
