Kindergarten Connection

Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa

Last Week

We now have 100% of our Progress Report envelopes in. Thank you for your attention to this 😊.

We have loved seeing the Christmas trees coming in each day. There is plenty of time to still encourage your child to return one. I have extras if you need them. Be sure to check them out in our hallway.

It has been our goal to get 10 whole class Paws Tickets in order to have a celebration of some kind. Well...your children accomplished that feat on Thursday. Prior to this we brainstormed what we might shoot for. There were many suggestions including popcorn, pajamas, stuffies and movie. We were just going to vote and Andy said, "Why don't we do them all?" I couldn't come up with a reason why not. So.....this Wednesday, 12/11, we will do all the things together. Your child may wear pajamas, bring a small stuffy, we will have popcorn and watch a short movie 😊.

When there is snow on the ground, our Brown School rule is that only children with snow pants and boots my play on the playground. Without those things children may play on the plowed area of the blacktop. This is for the children's safety as well as, an effort to keep them dry and comfortable.

We also must have shoes to change into each day when boots are needed. In case of emergency, we can not allow children to be in socks only during our school day. You are welcome to leave a pair of shoes here during the winter for this reason. This is not necessary, but is encouraged.

I am excited to report that my group is doing a wonderful job getting dressed for winter, outdoor play. Thank you for practicing at home. I'd appreciate help in the area of zipping coats. I am happy to help but this is another step towards independence for our kinders. Thank you!

Never hesitate to email me (ldelapa@sjschools.org) with any questions you may have regarding any of our “kindergarten stuff.”

Due to an allergy, please refrain from sending snacks that contain any kind of nut. Thank you!

We will snack in the morning each day (our lunch time is 12:25). It is not necessary for you to send a snack with your child, as the leader provides it each day.  Thank you for sending a leak-proof water bottle with your child each day.

Next Week Events

As stated earlier, Wednesday or class will celebrate our great choice making with pajamas, a small stuffy, and movie and popcorn. Of course the pajamas and stuffies are voluntary. Some children feel funny wearing pj's to school. It is all about fun, so whatever feels right is great with us.

Mrs. VanAntwerp is our next guest reader on Wednesday, December 11th at 3:15. Please bring 3-4 books with you to read.

November homework and Book-It calendars are welcome back for a trip to the treasure chest and Pizza Hut certificate. Reminder that your child's name must be on it as well as your signature.

Thank you for returning Library books by Tuesday of each week.

Just a reminder that the students must wear gym shoes each Friday.

Please, please label your child's outdoor clothing, lunch boxes, water bottles, etc.
