Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa

Last Week

It was great to be together again after the long break. It was fun exchanging stories and connecting with similar experiences. 

We were sad to hear that our Ernie has moved and is no longer in our class. We have missed him already and hope that he has a good start in his new town and new school. Our class now has 23 students.

Last week we were given an age appropriate lesson on Safe Touch from the experts of the Children's Advocacy Center. Your child came home with a coloring book which gives parents the concepts and vocabulary used to teach this important subject. We are fortunate to have this resource.

Snack and Leaders

Your child will come home with the Leader bag the night before his/her leader day. There is a notebook inside with directions for sharing both a snack with the class and a Show and Tell item. Please refer to the calendar in the back of your child's take home folder for leader and other important dates.

Due to an allergy, please refrain from sending snacks that contain any kind of nut. Thank you!

We will snack in the morning each day (our lunch time is 12:25). It is not necessary for you to send a snack with your child, as the leader provides it each day.  Thank you for sending a leak-proof water bottle with your child each day.

Next Week Events.

We are so fortunate to be given the opportunity to pilot this Teddy Bear Clinic program presented by the Future Health Professionals from SJHS. As the poster says, please send a small teddy bear or stuffed animal tomorrow with your child. Be sure to ask about this tomorrow after school. We are all excited about it!

No Late Start this week! 

We hope to take both portions of the NWEA assessment this week. It is midyear, so it is time to measure the growth of our students. You will receive the results with the T2 progress reports. Please don't place too much importance upon these scores. At this level the results aren't completely valid due to user error, etc. 

Your child is welcome to return his/her December homework calendar any time now. Be sure to sign it and fill out the back if you are participating in our Book-It program through Pizza Hut.  

Our next guest reader will be Mrs. Morales on Wednesday, January 15. Please come at 3:15 with 3-4 of your favorite books. We will see you then 😀.

Lego Night is this Wednesday at Brown School from 5:30-7:00. Come enjoy the fun of Legos with your Brown School family!

Your child must have shoes to change into each day when boots are needed. In case of emergency, we can not allow children to be in socks only during our school day. You are welcome to leave a pair of shoes here during the winter for this reason. This is not necessary, but is encouraged.

Please be sure to --

• Send a leak-proof, water bottle each day
• Dress your child for the weather of the day-snow pants, boots, hat and mittens
• Empty your child's folder each day
• Return Library books by Tuesday of each week.
• Wear gym shoes each Friday for gym class.
