Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa


Last Week


Our biggest news, yet sad, last week was that Hriyansh and his family are moving to Iowa. Friday was his last day with us. We celebrated him and wished him well. We sure will miss him! Our loss is Cedar Rapids gain as I know his new teachers and classmates will love him as much as we do. 


Our trip to the Planetarium was SO fun! I hope your child told you that we learned that people all over the world see the same stars and constellations we do and that the moon, is so different than our Earth. Ask your child to tell you some differences between the moon and Earth. Ask about the light show at the end too. It was incredible! 


We enjoyed the 4th grade program Wednesday afternoon too. We learned that in 4th grade we will learn how to play the recorder and drum. 🎵

Snack and Leaders


Your child will come home with the Leader bag the night before his/her leader day. There is a notebook inside with directions for sharing both a snack with the class and a Show and Tell item. Please refer to the calendar in the back of your child's take home folder for leader and other important dates.

Due to an allergy, please refrain from sending snacks that contain any kind of nut. Thank you!

We will snack in the morning each day (our lunch time is 12:25). It is not necessary for you to send a snack with your child, as the leader provides it each day.  Thank you for sending a leak-proof water bottle with your child each day.

Next Week Events.


Our Positivity Project trait is -Supporting Others-I do my best to help others.


We will begin the week with new seats. As crazy as it sounds, these will probably be our last seat change of the year. 😞


Mileage Club is happening each Monday, Wednesday and Friday for the next 2 weeks. During lunch recess the students may
earn a foot charm for running/walking/skipping/ etc. 1 lap. If they go more, those laps go to our classroom totals for possible prizes.
This is all about creating healthy exercise habits for our students. Ask you child how many laps they had on our Mileage Club days.

As I am sure you have heard, Brown School will not be in session this Friday, 4/25. This is due to our observance of the funeral for
Mark Turner. This has been a difficult time for our school community. We look forward to supporting Mark's family in this way.
I hope you are able to spend some good time with your littles ones and hold them tight.


Please be sure to --

  • Please send a leak-proof, water bottle each day. 
  • Dress your child for the weather of the day-whatever that may be 😏.
  • Empty your child's folder each day

Thank you for returning Library books by Tuesday of each week. 


Please be sure your child has gym shoes each Friday. 


Upcoming Events


Our Spring Mileage Club will be held the weeks of April 21st and April 28th. Please have your child bring back his/her charm necklace in order to add new charms to the collection.

        Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa Last Week Thank you all for making the effort to spend time together listening to, encouraging and loving on your children during our conferences. The expectation is that we hold conferences with 100% of our families. I appreciate that you all made that easy for me this year. I really enjoyed our time together. Our turkeys decorating the hallway look wonderful. Each one is unique and the entire Brown School family loves seeing each new one hung. If your child has not done one yet, there is still time.         Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa Last Week It was great to be back together again this week. We enjoyed sharing how we spent our time off. We realized that we really missed each other. 😌 The class did a great job getting right back into the swing of our daily routines and procedures. They are acting like 1st graders more and more each day. 😃  There was an Exterior Lock Down drill on Thursday. It was during our Music time so it was good for our students to practice in a place other than our room.
