Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa


Last Week


Yearbooks came home on Friday for those who ordered them. We often have extras so if you would like 1 reach out to Mrs. Smith in the office. 


We have been working on some surprises for Moms last week. Be on the lookout for something on Friday. 😉


We finished Mileage Club last week. Our children did great!


We have been reviewing high frequency words each day. Please work with these words at home with your child as well. Each word learned helps the reading process move forward. If you need me to send home another copy of the words, I will be happy to. Just let me know.

Snack and Leaders


Your child will come home with the Leader bag the night before his/her leader day. There is a notebook inside with directions for sharing both a snack with the class and a Show and Tell item. Please refer to the calendar in the back of your child's take home folder for leader and other important dates.

Due to an allergy, please refrain from sending snacks that contain any kind of nut. Thank you!

We will snack in the morning each day (our lunch time is 12:25). It is not necessary for you to send a snack with your child, as the leader provides it each day.  Thank you for sending a leak-proof water bottle with your child each day.

Next Week Events.


Our Positivity Project trait is -Other People Mindset-Anything you can do to build a relationship will make you happier.


On Monday and Tuesday mornings we will be hosting 4-5 year old preschool classes from the YMCA. It is our job to 

introduce them to our kindergarten world. Be sure to ask your child who his/her buddy was and how we spent our time 

together. We are really hoping for dry weather for some good playground time. 


Tuesday will be the last day to check out Library books for the year.


Our next Guest Reader will be Mrs. Schueneman coming on Wednesday, May 7 at 3:15. Please bring 3-4 of your favorite books to share with us. 


We will take our final ELA NWEA test on Thursday, 5/8. We will take the Math portion on Monday, 5/12. It will feel good 

to have these completed. I can't wait to see the growth of our kiddos 😊 


Friday, May 9-Sarett Nature Center Field Trip-Thankfully we are able to go rain or shine as Sarett always has a "Plan B."

We will also meet Author Leslie Helakoski on Friday morning. Your kindergartner will have lots to talk about this day.

Please be sure to --

  • Please send a leak-proof, water bottle each day. 
  • Dress your child for the weather of the day-whatever that may be 😏.
  • Empty your child's folder each day

Thank you for returning Library books by Tuesday of each week. 


Please be sure your child has gym shoes each Friday.

Students come with their parents to choose several books to add to home libraries. A generous grant makes this

possible for all SJ students.


No School-Monday, May 26 for Memorial Day



Tuesday, May 27-Brown School Picnic-There are many opportunities to volunteer. This is a really fun day for all!

        Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa Last Week Thank you all for making the effort to spend time together listening to, encouraging and loving on your children during our conferences. The expectation is that we hold conferences with 100% of our families. I appreciate that you all made that easy for me this year. I really enjoyed our time together. Our turkeys decorating the hallway look wonderful. Each one is unique and the entire Brown School family loves seeing each new one hung. If your child has not done one yet, there is still time.         Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa Last Week It was great to be back together again this week. We enjoyed sharing how we spent our time off. We realized that we really missed each other. 😌 The class did a great job getting right back into the swing of our daily routines and procedures. They are acting like 1st graders more and more each day. 😃  There was an Exterior Lock Down drill on Thursday. It was during our Music time so it was good for our students to practice in a place other than our room.
