Kindergarten Connection

Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa

Last Week

Happy Mother's Day to all our wonderful Moms! I hope it has been a great day for you all with your families.

We had a perfect day for our trip to Sarett Nature Center on Friday. Please ask your child to tell you all he/she learned and experienced. A big thank you goes out to the grown ups who gave us their time as chaperones for this trip.

Our time with author Leslie Helakoski was great. She told us about the writing process and how she began writing books

when she was in elementary school. She also helped us all to draw an owl and an alligator, step by step. Your child

brought the drawings home on Friday afternoon. Be sure to ask about this.

We have been reviewing high frequency words each day. Please work with these words at home with your child as well. Each word learned helps the reading process move forward. If you need me to send home another copy of the words, I will be happy to. My assessment day is Monday, 5/19. I can't wait to see the improvement in known words.

Never hesitate to email me (ldelapa@sjschools.org) with any questions you may have regarding any of our “kindergarten stuff.”

Due to an allergy, please refrain from sending snacks that contain any kind of nut. Thank you!

We will snack in the morning each day (our lunch time is 12:25). It is not necessary for you to send a snack with your child, as the leader provides it each day.  Thank you for sending a leak-proof water bottle with your child each day.
